Polygraph is an effective means of exonerating the falsely accused and to verify witness statements.

Successful defense attorneys routinely use polygraph examinations as part of their defense strategy. If the polygraph examination reveals the person is truthful, the prosecutor will be provided the results to explore the possibility of resolving the case without a trial or getting the charges reduced. Prosecutors generally do not want to pursue charges against a person they have reason to believe are innocent. If the results are not as the defense team would prefer, attorneys are not required to disclose the results to the prosecutor or judge.

To achieve the best outcome, it is critical to select the most qualified polygraph examiner that has the most credibility. The most qualified polygraph examiners are former federal agents, such as former FBI Agents, who will have significantly more influence with Federal State and local prosecutors compared with an examiner with limited or no law enforcement experience. Many prosecutors are familiar with FBI polygraph examiners’ training, experience, and high ethical standards conducting polygraph examinations.
